A budget figure, not a quote

Both calculators here multiply quantities they work out by rates you enter yourself. Nothing assumes a market price, because prices vary by region, by season and by how busy your contractor is. The point is to tell you whether a quote is in the right region and where the money is going, not to replace the quote.

What they cannot know is the site. Access, roof or ground complexity, deck repairs found after a strip, drainage, permits and the local labour market can each move a real quote by twenty percent. Treat the output as the floor of a budget rather than the number to hand to a client.

Getting a quote you can compare

  • Ask for delivered material prices per unit.
  • Check whether removal and disposal are included.
  • Confirm what the labour rate covers.
  • Get three quotes before trusting any of them.

About these calculators

Ask us something else

Because any price we published would be wrong for most readers within months. Material and labour rates vary by region and by season, so the calculators ask for your figures and do the quantity arithmetic that is genuinely universal.

Because you pay for what you cut from, not what ends up installed. Waste is applied to the material being ordered, while labour and removal are charged on the actual finished area. The breakdown separates the two deliberately.

It covers the main material and labour lines. It does not cover excavation, base preparation, forming, drainage, permits or site access, all of which are real costs on a driveway or a reroof. Use it as a starting point and add those separately.
